About Leslie Nightingale

Credentials

  • B.A. in History and Literature, Harvard University

  • Virginia Department of Education Teaching License, Secondary English (Grades 7-12)

Leslie Nightingale has tutored and taught at the middle school, high school, and college levels for fifteen years. She first taught high school English, history, and creative writing classes at an international school in Seoul, Korea; then, she taught First-Year Writing and British and American literature courses at the University of Minnesota. From 2015 to 2022, Leslie taught eighth grade English at Longfellow Middle School in Falls Church, VA. She has experience working with students who have 504 Plans or IEPs, are in team-taught classes or the Advanced Academic Program, and/or are learning English as a second language. Leslie is known for her patience, empathy, organization, and ability to clearly explain concepts and help students improve their writing. 

 

As a student at Harvard and the University of Minnesota, Leslie edited others’ college application essays, medical school and residency essays, senior theses, dissertations, and creative writing. Since 2015, she has helped students craft their application essays in order to be admitted to the high schools and colleges of their choice. Leslie lives in Chantilly, VA, with her husband, cat, and dog. She offers in-person sessions at her home in Chantilly and virtual sessions to students in Virginia and around the country.

About Laura Moltz

Credentials

  • B.A. in English with a minor in History from Barnard College, Columbia University

  • Coursework at the Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury College

  • M.A. in English, University of Minnesota 

Laura Moltz has taught Introduction to Literature, American and British Literature, Children’s Literature, and University Writing to University of Minnesota college students, as well as high school and continuing education students attending the university. She has taught Ballet, Pointe, Modern, and Character dancing to students from preschool through high school. She has worked as a professional dancer, an Assistant Oral Historian at the Naval Historical Foundation, and in the fields of museum studies, fashion, and publishing. Laura’s students have found her multidisciplinary academic and professional background to be an asset in terms of their classroom experience and professional development. She has helped many of her students with personal statements, resumes, and applications and conducted many mock interviews. Laura is known for her passion, humor, and kindness in all aspects of her life.

 

Laura has worked in Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington, DC, but these days she resides in Richmond, VT, with her husband, their two young children, and their large and unruly Labrador Retriever. She has worked with Leslie at Nightingale Tutoring & Consulting since August 2023 and is excited to offer in-person sessions in Vermont and virtual sessions for students in Vermont and elsewhere.
